Guess the local dealer's turn signal lens price . . . 200 1989

. . . just over $50!

I was amazed that Volvo of Charleston was overcharging people *that* much for part prices. Fortunately, I didn't have to get the lens myself, but we called just to find out the cost.

(Maaco had to replace a lens they broke during the repainting, and so we were going to call back the next day and offer to handle the lens ourselves if they knocked half the price of a new one off the final job's cost. Fortunately, I guess, Maaco was able to acquire a "new" one--appears to be new, indeed--at an undisclosed price. It doesn't matter, as amber Volvo truck turn signals lenses are in the mail to me!)

So, if for some reason, you're considering getting easily-acquired parts from your local dealer, I'd strongly suggest reconsidering it. I would guess that price markups are made across the board.

Swedish Car Parts lists the US lenses for $28 (with probably $5 shipping), while Bram has clear Euro lenses for 20 Euros on his site. Searching around elsewhere online can, of course, yield lots more other cheap sources.
