Listen to the suggestion that Joaquin Novara made to you........... Install a "T" fitting so you can put both the light and the gauge in.
Idiot lights were put in cars for two reasons. First was they are a cheap alternative to gauges, second and most important. Most people do not check their gauges until they hear something going wrong like a rod knock, then it's too late. A light will come on and tell you something as soon as the pressure drops. Same as a temp warning light, it lets you know before you start boiling your water out of the system. The only people that I know that really watch their gauges are airline and private pilets (their lives and others depend on it) and true car buffs or race drivers. So the dual system is one of the best ways of protecting your brick until you get ready for a overhaul and not an un planned one. Also you have some good advice about types of oil. The desil oil , I have used on older cars and have been told it is made for rough duty and is probably over kill for most cars, it is usualy a premium oil and will not hurt you car at all. If you get a slight drop after a hard run you might have some bearing wear that is increased when the engine is running hot or under a hard load, when you suddenly slow you have a slightly larger clearance and as the engine cools a little and clearances close up a little (talking very small differences), plus the oil cools some and gets thicker you get a slight increase in pressure. This could be all normal especialy with a higher milage engine. You will probably have to overhaul your Volvo in the next 100,000 or 200,000 miles or so ( even Volvos have to be refurbished once in a while)
Good luck,
Dennis
