The 122s I have had all had 2 belt tensioners, one an idler pulley attached
to or near the top of the head to tension the AC belt, and the other an arm
from a little lower on the front of the head that mounts to the top of the
generator to tension the water pump/fan/generator belt. The one for the
AC does have a bearing in it (which can be replaced for about $5) but I
don't see how the other one can wear out in «normal» use.

I guess the proof of the pudding would be to tell him "I'm from Missouri.
