Exhaust Leak Repair? 200 1990

Is there any temporary repair for an exhaust leak in the downpipe on a 244 (1990, 170K miles)? It’s coming from just aft of the bell-housing bracket in the twin-pipe section, but in front of the heat shield that’s on the horizontal section. There’s about 1/2-inch of shiny (non-rusted) pipe forward of the front of the lip of the heat shield, as if the pipes have broken, and have pulled forward from the heat shield. Can the heat shield be removed to gain access and patch the pipes? (I'm IPD skill level 1 or 2)

For permanent replacement, recommend Volvo, Bosal, or Starla? Source for Bosal or Starla?
