Electrical Problem- Turn signals, Hazard lights 140-160

Hi all. I've been having some minor electrical problems with my newly purchased '70 164, and have successfully triumphed over most of them, but this latest problem has me stymied. The turn light indicators and the hazard lights don't flash, just come on steady, and eventually blow the fuse. I just got done installing a new little flasher unit, but the lights remain the same. Now, I'm hoping this is a regular problem, and I'm just stoopid, so if anyone has any ideas I would be so very thankful.
