Whirring/ Chirping sound at low speeds 200 1990

Recently purchased my 1st volvo, 1990 240 wagon w/ 135000 miles. I'm noticing a whirring/chirping noise at low speeds (under 15mph). Sounds like it is coming from the passenger side front fender area. Only happens occasionally, especially after a long trip or just starting out. Also have a clunking in the rear at low speeds when shifting from 1st to 2nd.(automatic) Are they related somehow? Is this serious and should be repaired immediately?

Thanks in Advance
T.
