HELP! 91 PRIZE VolvoTurbo 940 stalls and bucks after refueling! 900 1991

I am on a business trip driving my pride and joy Volvo 91 940 Turbo. Luckily I have my Laptop and I am in my Hotel,stranded, though with hi speed Internet..
My 91 Turbo 940 is my pride and joy and is well lmaintained and serviced and I know and understand the car, though not as well as some of you maybe. I have troubleshooted the ECU and the turbo several times and been lucky/successful and I keep the car in great condition.
Tonight the car was running like a kitten. When the tank got to empty at Midnight i pulled into US GAS on Route 73 S , took ona Full Tank, and a second later I restarted the car and I left sputtering, bucking and stalling! I was terrified I was damaging the engine, but i had to get the car to the Hotel, maybe I should have stopped for a tow. I drove at 10 to 20 mph home ( the car could go no faster) and the car was bucking and wheezing the whole way home. Thre was sligt power pick up when I eased my foot off the Gas.
WHERE IS THE FIRST PLACE I SHOULD LOOK WHEN THE SUN COMES UP.
IS MY ENGINE DAMAGED?
Should I sue the Gas station if it is? The car was running great until I refueled.
I am very angry and PO'D
