No instrument lights! 200

I replased the two bulbs that light up the speedo and tach on my 83 GL. When I was getting ready to button everything up, I checked to see if everything was OK and to my surprise I discovered that all of my dash lights did not work. I bypassed the rheostat as per instructions on the Brickboard and the lights went on. After everything was back together I turned on the lights and they DID NOT WORK! I was able to test the bypass wire for current with a test light and I am getting power on the two gray wires. The brown wires are the one's that send power to the dash light's, at least I think so. What could be wrong? If anyone think's that it could be a ground problem please point me in the right direction. You can see my car in the Vermont show winners page. I won second place in the 200 series at the 2003 VCOA meet.
