intermitent headlight trouble on one side only 700 1989

Lights on dim = both right and left ok
Lights on bright = right side dim and bright lamps ok - left side dim and bright lamps are out(they work every once in awhile - mostly not).

I replaced left side bright lamp due to broken spade post on lamp itself and inspected the wires to the lamp - they appeared ok. Thought this would fix problem. It didn't :-(

Do these symptoms sound like a ground problem, headlight relay switch or something else? Are there seperate grounds for left and right side lamps? If so, where is the ground for the left side?
