Hi-lo headlight relay - different fix 200 1985

The problem I started having was when you switched out of high beams to go to low, the lows did not come on - just sudden total darkness out front. I read on the board that the hi-lo relay mounted on a bar behind the battery can be the problem. One post said that cleaning soome hardened grease in there solved it. I took the relay cover off (aluminum on mine, easy) and did not see any grease or gunk problem. However, when you press down manually to toggle the "W" shaped toggle, it was clear that the bent wire actuator was not seating far enough down on one side of the sweep. The toggle would hang at the midway point, no contact being made either side. So I bent the wire down a little. The wire is tough, hard bronze or something, hard to bend. Also, warning, it only needs a tiny bit, hardly noticeable -- the sketch in the attached photo is exaggerated just to show the idea -- just bend a little, try the toggle, repeat. Works fine, quicker and cheaper than going to the dealer.
