Think it time to change the drive belts...? 200

I have a 1988 Volvo 240 DL and I have noticed that the belts are starting to show their age. I won't be replacing my timing belt any time soon as that only has about 12k on it. As, this is my first car, I have never actually changed belt s before...I would like to learn though! I was looking in my repair book for my Volvo, and it gave a very brief description. From Looking at the would I have to take the fan off to remove/install new belts or? What's involved with adjusting the tension of the belts? What tools are needed? What brand of belts should I use?

Sorry for my ignorance...Thank you very much and Happy Bricking!
