Fuel pump relay question - need quick answer - if poss ! 700 1991

My 2 cents worth...perhaps the problem is fixed....nevertheless here goes. Do you have a regina fuel system? If so then I will continue. However my info may be good as well for other setups.Squarish Ignition assy on left drivers side as opposed to the cylindrical coil? If you do then you have an in tank fuel pump only. Remove the compartment above the ash tray by prying off the bezel around the cigarette lighter then removing two screws ( one is at an angle) . Now you have great access to the relay assy. With your hand touching the fuel pump relay turn the ign. key to posn 2 and you should get a click. It is at that time that the fuel pump turns on momentarily to pressurize the system for starting. No click then perhaps a faulty relay or connections. Got a click? Did you hear the momentary sound of the pump running. No? Then a faulty pump.If the crank sensor is bad you should get a code at your diagnostic port.Do you have a meter to test voltages? Go in the trunk and remove trunk carpet to locate fuel pump wires .It has four wires A large black and large pink The others are for the fuel gauge. Black is -ve pink is +ve .Connect meter to connector coming from front of car and watch as some one else tries to start. Initially you should get a spike prior to cranking. If not bad relay or connections. While cranking you should see perhaps 10-12v .Does it? No? Bad relay etc. Yes? Then good rpm sensor and Bad pump if no start. If you have a spare 12v you could try connecting directly to the pink and black terminals going to the fuel tank...Do this for a short duration ..it will be obvious if the pump works...and should you be replacing a pump dont forget the pump intake sock/filter screen ...good luck
