In tank fuel pump grounding problem 700

Hello to all,

Car is a 91 740 T sedan with 190 km and close to 1/4 tank of gas. Yesterday the main fuel pump on my car was a lot louder after I started it up, and it stayed loud as I drove. I have diagnosed the in-tank pump ground to be the problem. After I removed the access panel in the trunk I could see the black ground wire not connected. The clamp on the filler tube, and one of the small hose clamps disintegrated in my hand. There was a lot of oxidation on everything. Lots of salt used here in Ontario on the roads. I scraped clean a section on the the flange and touched the black ground wire to it while the car was running, and I could hear the in-tank pump run.

The tab for the ground wire is completely gone. I did a search on the site and found a post by Don indicating one way to make a new ground is to clean off one of the small hose metal tubes and use this to make a ground connection. This appears like the only way to fix this at the moment, other than replacing the entire unit. The small pipes look pretty rusty and crusty.

Does anyone have any other ideas or solutions on how to connect a ground to the flange? I can take the car to work and park and work on it indoors. It is freezing outside today!

All ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated.
