What is the stuff used to clean the engine compartment? 900

What I'm inquiring about is typically found at car lots. The engine is clean and appears to have some sort of shiny wax on it.

Is this something that can purchased by the average Joe?I dont like the idea of spraying down an engine but it looks so good. Our 92 had it when we bought it but all the miles have made it look not so clean anymore.I had never seen the 6 cyl. until I popped the hood on this one.The 94 on the other hand was very dirty, but I already knew the potential and spent weeks cleaning by hand.

The I-6 is a very interesting engine when seen the 1'st time.
