radio installation 200

OK, people! You all have been so great. Thanks to the help I got here, I now have a working horn, and brake lights.

This weekend, my project is to get my CD player installed. I started to do it this afternoon, and have become completely frustrated. The previous owner, for reasons I'll never comprehend, cut most, but not all, of the wires leading into the harness. And the plastic "connector" on the end of the harness is damaged, too, so it's not as simple as just reconnecting. So I tried to hard-wire to the wires from the radio, but I'm confused. There are two black wires under the dash. Do I connect them both into the black from the radio? That's what I did! I've got things connected, and now the player runs enough to get it to accept a CD into the slot, and eject it, but that's all it does. It doesn't play, there's no illumination on the face of the radio, and no sound.

This is probably too much to expect anyone to just explain, but if anyone knows where I can get descriptions and/or diagrams online, that'd be great!

Thanks again.
