240 rear bumper repair 200 1987

Hello,

My '87 244 GL has a pushed-in rear bumper (pushed in on the
passenger's side until it is almost flush with the tailight).
My mechanic told me it needs a new bumper shock absorber. I
got a used one from Swedish Engineering.

Three questions:

1. Is this a difficult job for a home mechanic?
2. If not, can someone point me to a place for repair instructions?
3. Will the repair like damage any of the bumper moldings?

Thanks.
