1989 240 GL Volvo with Alternator Problem

Hello,

I replaced the battery, which was 7 years old, and now the test at Shucks shows that my alternator isn't charging when I turn the car on. I don't know what the test is, but they connect to both battery polls and push buttons on a little computer and tell me what is happening. I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for testing the alternator itself, because I'm suspicious of the wiring in this car, and would rather not replace a $200 part without really needing to.

What wiring would you check on first before replacing the entire alternator?

Thanks,

Russell Mann
