hesitation upon acceleration 200 1979

Hi I have an early style wagon(1979). I am noticing during acceleration, I get a loss of power for a second then it kicks right back in. It only has happened a handful of times in the last few days, never before. I recently lost my muffler, I am guessing from behind the first muffler one all the way back, could that have something to do with it?..My first guess is the fuel filter and/or pump. I'm pushing 250,000mi and never replaced either..What might be going on under the hood of my 5-door 4 speed chick repelant? I'm lost as usual..Thanks for reading and any advise.
