front caliper bleed valves, why 3? 200 1989

Front caliper bleeding, girling calipers, vented discs.
240 89 DL sedan B230F

So can someone explain to me the usage of the three bleed valves per caliper?
As I have always understood, air rises to the top hence the bleed valves are placed at the top. i.e. this is why we have different left/right calipers.

I noticed my calipers have one bleed valve at the top, and one in the MIDDLE of either side. What are those ones for?

Let me know,
Greg Mustang
