First off, thank you brickboard for existing. I've finally found an online volvo resource that i can use.
Second, I might ramble a bit. Sorry about it in advance.
Third, my problem. Well, at least one of many. With my car.
I get this wierd rumble noise from the back end of my car. It sounds almost like it could be the tailpipe rattling against some part of the frame or body, but I've checked that and I didn't find any friction points or wear points anywhere. The wierd thing about it is that I only notice it when I first get the car going after it's been sitting for a bit... in the morning when I'm on the way to work, at the end of the day when I'm leaving the parkade.... It's not a constant rumble, in fact, it only happens for a short period of time when I wind the engine up in first gear. As I accelerate it will rumble away, but if I hold the speed steady it wont.
ie: I pull out of the driveway and head up the hill, accelerating as I go in first gear, and it rumbles. If I pause and hold it at about 3000 RPM (for example) it stops rumbling, but when I accelerate again it rumbles again. I hit second gear and it's gone. And the kicker is, the next time I have to put it in first at a traffic light... no more rumble.
I've generally dealt with the problem by turning the stereo up. I know I need to do the clutch, could that be it? Any suggestions?
