I pretty much agree with -those other guys- about getting good replacement foam. Passenger seats are usually better, more comfortable, and have a lot of life left in them. But some places don't want to sell just one seat, or you can't find one, etc...
The local upholstery shop repaired a *LOT* of seats for Volvos when 240s were more prevalent. They used 3M #77 spray adhesive; also had some kind of contact cement, and I'm sorry I don't have a brand name. I'm sure it's another 3M product.
The splits were put back together, and the entire seat backed by flannel cloth either bought by the yard or cut from an old very large shirt. The important thing obviously is to repair across the area of the splits- usually against the uprights of the seatbacks.
Under the seat bottoms, again a passenger seat bottom foam is totally interchangeable, but if repairing one, first make sure the spring frame and all the springs are intact, then the cut areas can be reinforced with some old carpet or heavy canvas backing.
It's good to have a "parts" seat when doing this- something's always cracked or broken. Buy a new lumbar support wire and that'll help complete the job right. Those are always broken as well.
