86 Volvo 740 Wagon -- REAR FOG LIGHT QUESTION 700

My 86 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon has rear fog lights (according to the manual), which are supposed to glow brighter than the normal taillight. Because of the general ugliness of my passenger-side taillight (it was dull and faded) I recently replaced the right rear lens and housing. Prior to replacing the lens I noticed that when I turned on the switch which the manual identifies the TOP red light on each lens was illuminated. However, now that I have replaced the right lens, the top light no longer illuminates when the switch is activated (no matter what combination of lighting I select), yet all of the other lights work as they should (brake, turn signal, reverse, and night lamp). Did I misplace the wires when I restored them to the bulb connectors? The wiring of the left taillight (the one that was NOT replaced) looks a bit different, because there are two leads that are double wires the lead into one connector, where the right side taillight does not have wiring like that.
