Shakey engine...SOLVED! 200 1987

Symptom: Engine shakes at idle but runs smooth, and changing motor mounts does not help.

I know others have written in with this same problem. I thought I had fixed my problem, by finding a vacuum leak, only to have it reoccur.

I got that sucker solved today. It all started with me checking the car over to get through emissions. I found that the car was idling at about 900-950 rpm's, it should have been 750. In my manual it also states that the rpm's should rise to 900 with the A\C on, thats when it hit me.

The other trouble I had with this car is a blower motor that always runs. After turning the A\C knob to the off position very hard several times. I finally got the fan to turn off. With my switch being hung up, the compressor wasn't on but, it was telling the fan to run and also telling the IAC to bump the rpm's up to 900-950.

After the rpm's were down to 750, the engine idles perfectly. Idling at 950 with no compressor load it would shake like crazy, with the A\C load it idles as you would expect.

I hope this helps someone.

Good luck,
