Trailing Arm Bushing - Complete- noise gone! 700 1986

IT WORKED. The terrible rumbling in the rear driveline/axle is gone. We spent the better part of the afternoon replacing the trailing arm bushings ( IPD parts) and swapped shocks off the '83 Turbo ( soon for sale). Very happy to say that the car is much quieter and generally smoother. We made the tool and it worked just as promised. I found it interesting that the bushing had a tapered leading edge that acted as a starting guide and a good indicator of depth. Seems to be about 1mm of difference in the diameters. We drew a line across the bottom to insure that down was down. Also made sure to tighten the joints with the rear axle at ride height so the bushings were not pre stressed. The only item we had trouble with was removing the original rear shocks ( must be the only '86 with 220,000 mile OEM units still on the road) The nut on the upper mount seized and had to be cut off and rethreaded.

Thanks to folks who developed the DIY tool. Perfect!!!

Mike and AJ
