What Goes on the End? 200 1987

Hi Bricksters:

Just spent about 6 hours changing out my old dash for a second hand one (w/no cracks), but obviously it was from a newer model than my '87. Old dash had the cutout for the mono radio speaker, while this one does not. Also, on the driver's side there were two metal tabs for screws that were not on the previous dash. This caused some issues while reinstalling the column shroud. In particular, what is supposed to be on the far left hand side, under the air supply vent? Old dash had more molded plastic & foam like the passenger side. This is as if something is missing. Any ideas?

Thanks as always for your insight.
