tranny leak is this normal? 200

hi there on my new old brick 85 244 t.i. i gunked off the underneath of the engine and replaced the power steering hose that was split. cleaned the tranny to find a leak. and tranny fluid is coming out the kickdown cable right near where it goes into the tranny, the plastic around the cable is broke in half but the cable is good. does this normally produce a leak? should i just replace the kickdown cable? also this morning when the tranny was not warmed up the car would not go into reverse, after about one mile it would go into reverse. i dont know if it is because fluid is leaking or a tranny problem? i knew of this when i bought the car. my friend has a tranny if needed. but its not a 03-71. livin and learning. thanks
