New owner of old 740 wagon 700 1989

Hello all,
Being a new owner of a 89,000mi 740GL wagon. I've noticed a clicking sound from top of engine.I believe it is the valvetrain. Engine seems to run fine, should I bother to adjust valves?
Front end seems to make a clunking noise when wheel is turned to lock and I I drive over bumps or the driveway apron. Is this a strut bushing problem? Thanks in advance.
