Gas Gauge Dead 200 1983

I purchased a 1983 240 Sedan about a week ago and have been enjoying it immensely, despite the large amount of things I have had to take care of (car has 200K and sat for almost 2 yrs). Now I am working my way to one of the less essential things - the gas gauge. It just sits on the bottom and never moves. However, the temp gauge next to it works just fine. Any ideas?

Thanks to all those on Brickboard.com who have already been so helpful.
