Heater control vacuum leak 200 1990

Helping dad out with the recirc air control vacuum leak. THe whole center console is apart, and we've come to this conclusion. If you suck on the hose coming off the back of the recirc button, there's no resistance. So basically, there's a hole in the hose, or the other end is not quite on at the other end. The only thing is, we can't figure out where the other end is.
Where does the vacuum hose for the recirc connect to on the other end? all i can see is that it kinda goes in behind the blower motor....... please don't tell me we have to pull the blower motor...........

HELP!
Thanks everyone
John
