wire question. to alternator 200

hi there 85 244 turbo, my new old car the wires going to the alternator are trashed and crumbling, cut the wires back about 12" and they are ok. what size wire and type should i purchase to make the repair, i wonder about the red one looks like about 6 or 8 guage. the others i can handle. thanks for any advice.
