Is fuse F23 responsible for in-tank fuel pump as well as 'day running lamps' ? 700 1988

Dear Sirs or Brick-heads,
I run a Volvo 740 88 E reg Estate B200E Injection on unleaded for the last 80,000 mls or for last 4 years that I have owned this great car.

It is NOT fitted with a Turbo & is an economy version euro spec 2 litre.

With 256k miles it still motors lovely & is always serviced by the proper local Volvo dealer, and is used for own self employed business.

OK nuff said I hope, now the problem I have that the dealer "cannot" answer is that when car is loaded with more than 200 kilos or so, and i'm pulling away or up hill, car occasionally drops in power for a split second or so enough to make the car leap frog, plus when it starts from cold engine fires up ok and revs to aroung 12-14 on rev counter, then drops to almost stalling and goes back up to 10-12 again.

New Volvo Distributor-cap / rotor and all genuine 'Volvo' lead set 60k ago plus the switch below dis-cap and hall sensor, breathers etc, but no great improvement with this problem.

Then last week, a friend at dealers phoned me up to say that they had a similar problem at some other dealer (typical that the Bonehead could'nt remember which one!) that had diagnosed that if fuse F-23 is removed (as mine is because of overheated connections sockets) that stops the day running lights, this electrical line also powers fuel pump in tank, and what may be the proof of this is that on the fuse listing, the main under body fuel pump is the only one listed while the tank pump isn't, because it gets its power from the running lights circuit.

On the car fuse list F23 is assigned to "day running lights" only.
SO, Could this be true?
SO, Is this my problem - at last - perhaps ???
Or are we all just whistling Dixie and clutching at straws?
Any light shed on this would be most appreciated with undying grattitude !!

Oh yes, also when its a 75-80 degrees hot day in traffic say in London during hot weather spells, car runs lumpy mostly all of the time, but less so if tank is either full or not below 3/4 full.
If this is the problem, then can I cut the day running lights wire that leads from this fuse, so I will get the better performance without having to have day running lamps that have obviously made the fuse holder overheat or vica-versa.
Many thanks for at least reading down this far.
Keith.
I have a Haynes manual and will see which colour wire stems from this fuse line and cut it under the bonnet, if pos to save having to pull out fuse tray which always makes me cringe to hear all those loom wires being pulled. But will wait for any answers from you experts 1st Thanks.
Can anyone say what Fuse guards the in-tank fuel pump?
