740 stalling 700

Gentlemen, hello, I have a 740 gl( 5-speed), and lately after driving for about 10-15 minutes, the engine just stalls and dies, I changed the generator in Jan and the battery is fine. after it stalls, I wait 5-10 minutes and it starts again. Last night it stalled twice within a 5 minute period, now the check engine light goes on. I check all fluid/oil and everything looks fine. My cousin, a volvo mechanic, had suggested it mnay be the speed sensor in the flywheel? Any thoughts? Thanks for your help and time!
