My 89'740 turbo has a garrett turbo, the nipple that goes to the waste-gate actuator hose on the compressor houseing is made of plastic and snaps in to tube where the outlet hose attaches, there is no threads.I went to the dealer to get a new fitting and when it came in it was made of brass and was threaded(1/8 pipe?) and too large to thread in where the current plastic fitting is now and there is not enough alloy to tap the outlet tube(IMHO) to the brass fitting size.I got a print-out from the dealer and it shows the brass fitting screwing into the turbine area instead of the outlet tube,my turbo does have that casting there, but it appears not to have threads, the print-out also shows that casting on the outlet tube as well where the current fitting is.Can I get the proper replacement plastic fitting or a 8mm elbow so I can tap the outlet tube to install a more permanent fitting out of brass,I want to install my dawes device this week to complete my project.
Anyone run into this before?I think this turbo was replaced at one time as I found exhaust manifold gaskets on the frame rail when I was re-sealing the oil cooler adapter on the block.Any info greatly appreciated.
