Speedometer Failed 700 1991

I drained the diff oil, removed the sending unit (broke a wire in the process and spliced a new end to it), cleaned the sending unit (didn't look that bad), re inserted the sender and refilled the diff with new oil. Has not skipped a beat for a couple hundred miles.

I don't believe I've had the differential oil changed ever and I've put 120,000 miles on it, so it was way overdue. The FAQ describes this problem...one reply to my query had the same experience, same SIMPLE/CHEAP repair I did.
