Troubleshooting steering problems 200

Chapster,

Lube those pesky steering u-joints. I had the same problem on two of our 244s, and believe it or not, one of the cars (an '88 244 GL) was more difficult to steer in one direction than the other. Shots of PB Blaster of 3 consecutive nights cleared the problem right up. I followed the PBB with some spray lithium grease that is "supposed" to penetrate. Others recommend using motor oil soaked rags after the PBB. I haven't tried that method. By the way, it is much easier to get to the lower u-joint (the one by the rack) if you do it from beneath the car (when you're down there to drain the oil, for example).
