Automatic Tranny Kickdown Cable Stuck 200 1985

I have a garaged 1985 245 DL with B230F non-turbo engine (140k miles) and AW-70 transmission. I cleaned the throttle body two weeks ago. When I tried to start the car up the other day, I noticed that the accelerator pedal wouldn't move. I traced the problem to the kickdown cable, which would not move forward or backward even 1 mm. I loosened the bolts holding the sheath, but this did not help. I'm also afraid of tugging the kickdown cable too hard and breaking it (I read the 700-900 FAQs several times and it didn't help). I really don't want to drop the tranny pan and replace the cable. There's got to be an easy solution. Any ideas?
