clutch return spring? 200 1986

Is there supposed to be a clutch return spring on my 86 240? My pedal wont come back all the way to the top without adjusting the cable. Then there is no freeplay in the pedal. I just replaced my clutch cable because it was so stiff.
But I still had the same problem before.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
