Saturday an eager young man, his father and a mechanic friend arrived and removed (purchased) my son's 90 Celica GT. Now we can officially put up the Volvo Parking Only sign in the yard ;-) .
A while back Iain was perusing the Brickboard "For Sale" listing and happened to notice a '78 242 DL listed for sale and that the contact number happened to be here in the 902 area code .... after we had gone to see the car we knew we had a winner !! We travelled about an hour through a snow storm and met the owner and were guided to a garage he had rented for the winter. The car is immaculate !! and we got it for the unbelievable price of Cdn$1,500 . The colour is sort of a rusty-brown with a beige interior. The wheels are the thin finned alloys .. even the spare is mounted on one .... and they had been glass beaded in the not too distant past.... tires in excellent shape. She needs a quick tune up as it tends to bog after each shift, but otherwise runs like a charm. The carb has been changed over to a single stromberg .... hmmm thought just struck me that the bogging may be that the dash pot on top of the carb may need topping up ... will try that later ....
Sway bars and lowering springs are already on order from IPD .... future plans call for it eventually becoming a 282 :-) with a Chevy Small Block being the leading transplant candidate at this moment. We will be getting some pictures later today and will post them.
