Is this a Reasonable Price 700

Hi. My 1987, 740 GLE died a few days ago. It has 104K miles on it. The car's engine would start, but it wouldn't catch. In other words, the motor would continue to turn, but never fully start. Told by mechanic that Ignition Distributor, Electronic Control Unit (a/k/a power amplifier), and Spark Plugs with wires needed replacement. All at the tune of $750 plus tax. Is this a reasonable price. He refuses to put used parts in the car, and says that absolutely everything on the list is necessary. I don't have a car so I feel like I'm at his mercy, but don't want to be taken advantage of if there's a cheaper alternative. I'm in the northern virginia area, and was wondering what some of you thought about the cost. Thanks in advance for your help. Jennifer
