Oxygen sensor light, 200

Hello,i have an 1081 240 DL

i was tryng to install the tach from a junkyard (which didn't work by the way) and while pulling the instrumnet panel found out that the light for the oxygen sensor light was removed(lambda light!?!?), i put one in there and found out the light turned on!!! my question is, could somebody have removed it and forget about servicing the oxygen sensor? or should a warning light be there at all? how can i find out if i need to replace the oxygen sensor?

Also, what is the part number for the instrument lights that will be brighter in the instrument panel?

thanks for the help..
