Need Fast Help 700

OK.
Timed asistance......LOL
I have the timing belt cover off to check my alignment marks.
I have discovered there are 2 marks on the back plastic?
One looks official. Its a little nub positioned at about 11 o'clock
Then there is a red dot inside a little circle that sits at almost 12 o'clock?
Close enough to confuse a newbie like me.
Now my buddy aligned the cam to the nub at 11.
Was he right or should I advance the cam forward to the mark that sits at almost midnight?
This mark moves the cam forward about three teeth positions...
