Here is the URL to the troubleshooting section for the overdrive relay that is probably the cause of your problems. http://brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/TransmissionAuto.htm#AW7071OverdriveRelaySwitch. Usually this relay just needs to be resoldered to restore it to like new condition. If you are not experienced in soldering, it can be replaced for $30.00 or so at FCPGROTON.com. I have never had an overdrive relay not respond to the resoldering process, so it is worth the 5 minutes to give it a try before shelling out the greenbacks for a new relay.
