Front Spoilers 200

Two questions about them:

Have 240s always come with front spoilers? I know mine has one (1989) and some/most/all after that year do as well, but today I saw an older 240 (no rear headrests) that lacked one. I'm not sure if it was because it had *fallen off* (the car was not too well-taken care of--196K miles, cracked lenses, chipped paint) or if the earlier 240s didn't come with them/only had spoilers as an option. As it was, the lack of a front spoiler made the car look quite different when viewed from the side.

Were front spoilers painted? My dad remarked after my car got back from Maaco that they had painted the spoiler in the same color blue as the body of the car, but I couldn't recall the spoiler being plastic black or whatever it was supposed to have been, if it was originally unpainted. (**edit**--looking at my profile pic--duh--, taken before the repainting, it looks like the spoiler was indeed painted originally. **edit**) However, another Volvo I saw today (post-1989) had a black, apparently unpainted, front spoiler. It did not match the blue color of the car. So, did Volvo paint them or not?

I think my car looks pretty sweet from the front with a blue front spoiler. (If only ipd would start selling back spoilers . . .) What do you think about painted vs. unpainted?
