Add-on sales tactics ... not Jiffy Lube, is it? If so, haven't you head all the horror stories?! In any case, I hope you at least opted for a better (read: bring your own!) oil filter.

The really penny-pinching oil flush is to run a quart (drain a bit out, then add in) of ATF in the crankcase for just a few miles (or at moderate rpm's) - just enough to get it warm and circulated. The high detergents help clean out the gunk. Drain it out afterwards, and do the rest of the oil change as usual.
