I have had alloys powdercoated with no ill effects. Done 4 years ago, been on 2 cars, no worries. Steelies *may* flex a bit more, but my powdercoat guy does 'em all the time, no complaints.

If you do regular business with any sort of shop that has a tire machine, they will dismount tires free. Mine does. But if that's not an option, and the tires are shot, take 'em off with a sawzall. Deflate first! Messy, but it works.
