kick down cable not retracted 200 1992

three day old car with a few problems.

the car really has to tach out before the overdrive engages. I pulled off to a rest stop and noticed the kick down cable isn't retracted back to the tranmission. There is just excessive slack. I am sure this is the problem. To change the cable do I have to remove the pan? I do not yet have a Bentley.

Also the transmission fluid needs changing. I have IPD's hose that attaches to the transmission cooler from when I had a 745T many many years ago. I forgot which line this attaches to (I think the top one). Also how many quarts/pints/type of automatic transmission is needed.

I promise to get a manual soon.
