Weird engine problems???? 700 1989

Lately my 89 740ti has been acting up. It felt like the engine was running out of fuel when I was accelorating in 1st and 2nd gear. It would buck and them come back. I was also experiencing massive power loss on accelorating from a dead stop. I mean you would have to almost floor it just for the engine to build rpms.I recently replaced the plugs and that helped for a couple days but it has returned. I do not know if these problems are fuel or electrical or some thing else. My dad thinks it could be the electrical system? Is this just a case of a new fuel filter being replaced or something else? Any help would be great!
