No ABS Warning Light 900

Hi all,

I have a problem with my '93 940. The ABS warning light does not come on with all the other warning lights when ignition is switched on. This has caused it to fail its annual MOT check, so I'm off the road at the moment :(

Any advice please?

This is what I have checked so far...

* Bulb in instrument panel is OK (swapped with parking brake warning bulb to check)

* There is NO power in the green wire that leads to the warning lamp from either the modulator or the control unit.

* There appears to be power in to the control unit and modulator and also to the surge protector.

* 10 amp Fuse in Surge protector is intact (though the fuse did seem a little loose in its housing.

* There is power OUT of the surge protector and thats detected at both modulator and control unit.

* I have cleaned up the earth contact at the bottom of the modulator unit, just in case that was causing me a problem.

Thats about the extent of my knowledge on auto electrics, so I dont really know what to try next. I'm stuck as to how I "test" the modulator or the control unit to see whether they are the problems.

I called up the dealer for some advice, his view was that its probably a dead control unit, for which he quoted a replacement at nearly 600 UK Pounds (>1000 US dollars).

Any replies or suggestions appreciated.
