Big Rain Makes Bad Brakes 444-544

1963 544 - If the brakes haven't been used for a while, the brakes grab on one side or the other when ever it rains. When it is raining they will grab after the car is sitting parked or after driving 30 minutes on the highway. Sometimes they pull right and sometimes they pull left. Sometimes they pull _very_ hard.

When the weather is dry there is never any unusual brake grabbing. As long as my brain is working I can lightly apply the brakes before hard braking and clear what ever is making them grab. On rainy occaisions when my brain isn't working, which is more often than I would like, a struggle to keep the car from jumping lanes ensues when braking.

As the brakes are fine when dry I am fairly sure that the hydraulic piston seals are good (MC and all four corners were replaced in past year). Any suggestions as to where to look for the cause of the wet brake pulling is appreciated.

Best regards,

Joe in WV
