Low Voltage at Ignition Coil - No Spark (I've Read the FAQ) 700

Hi Everyone,

I own a 88' 740 GLE 5spd Station Wagon. I am not getting a spark from the ignition coil. I have replaced the ignition coil, distributor (equipped with Hall Sensor) and ignition amplifier (thank god I can still return these); however, I still read approximately only 4.75V at the ignition coil. I don't see a spark when I ground the number one spark plug. Battery is OK and so are the fuses.

Does anyone have an idea of what I should be testing next? I read in the FAQ that the hall sensor cable has a connection at the firewall? Is this true for my model. The hall sensor cable joins a number of other electrical cables and enters thru the firewall inside a big rubber plug which has been difficult to remove. Is this worth the effort? I am at my wits end and would appreciate any help that you all can provide.

Best Regards,
Niclas
